چکیده

Introduction Micro-scale analysis of microbes in soil is essential to the overall understanding microbial organization, interactions, and ecosystem functioning. Soil fractionation according its aggregated structure has been used access habitats. While bacterial communities have extensively described, little known about fungal at scales relevant interactions. Methods We applied a gentle method preserve stable structures within range micro-aggregates studied as well nitrogen cycling potentials pristine Rothamsted Park Grass (bulk soil) particle size fractions (PSFs; >250 μm, 250–63 63–20 20–2 <2 supernatant). Results Overall community changed PSFs below 20 μm. The relative abundance Basidiomycota decreased with decreasing over entire measure range, while Ascomycota showed an increase Mucoromycota became more prominent particles Bacterial diversity was found highest < 2 μm fraction, but only few taxa were washed-off during procedure supernatant samples. These associated exopolysaccharide production biofilm formation (e.g., Pseudomonas , Massilia Mucilaginibacter Edaphobaculum Duganella Janthinobacterium Variovorax ). potential for reduction elevated bigger aggregates. Discussion observed changes are line where operate interact, highlighting focus on researched sub-fractions micro-aggregates. shows use studies focusing role biofilms might also be adapted research various other functions. Technical advances combination micro-sampling methods promise valuable output when included.

Size fractionation and microbial community structure of soil aggregates

The microbial community structure in various microaggregates in a loamy sand soil was investigated. The microaggregates were separated into outer and inner aggregates using a series of soil washes. Further physical fractionation of inner aggregates was achieved by separation into coarse and fine sand as macroaggregate fractions, coarse and fine silt as microaggregate fractions, and clay. Resear...

Sheep-urine-induced changes in soil microbial community structure.

Soil microbial communities play an important role in nutrient cycling and nutrient availability, especially in unimproved soils. In grazed pastures, sheep urine causes local changes in nutrient concentration which may be a source of heterogeneity in microbial community structure. In the present study, we investigated the effects of synthetic urine on soil microbial community structure, using ph...

Particle size fractionation of soil containing coal and combusted particles

Standard procedure for dispersing natural soils for particle size fractionation can be too aggressive for soil containing coal and other organic particles from coal industries. We have investigated ultrasonic dispersion for the latter in four soils differing in pedogenesis (Phaeozem, Podzol, reclaimed mine soils), carbon content (27.5±138.6 g kg), clay content (80±153 g kg) and sources of parti...

Effect of silver nano-particles on soil microbial growth, activity and community diversity in a sandy loam soil.

Silver nano-particles (AgNPs) are widely used in a range of consumer products as a result of their antimicrobial properties. Given the broad spectrum of uses, AgNPs have the potential for being released to the environment. As a result, environmental risks associated with AgNPs need to be assessed to aid in the development of regulatory guidelines. Research was performed to assess the effects of...

Changes in soil microbial community composition in response to fertilization of paddy soils in subtropical China

Repeated fertilizer applications to cultivated soils may alter the composition and activities of microbial communities in terrestrial agro-ecosystems. In this study, we investigated the effects of different long term fertilization practices (control (CK), three levels of mineral fertilizer (N1P1K1, N2P2K2, and N3P3K3), and organic manure (OM)) on soil environmental variables and microbial commu...
